The meaningS

1. THE WITNESS
Awareness without attachment.
Upright:
The Witness appears when you are being asked to stop reacting and start seeing. This is the part of you that can observe the situation without needing to win, fix, perform, or defend. When this card is upright, your greatest power is clarity—because clarity cannot be manipulated. Something in your life requires a clean read, not a charged response. The Witness doesn’t deny emotion; it simply refuses to be ruled by it.
Reversed:
Reversed, the Witness can indicate dissociation, numbness, or emotional avoidance disguised as “being spiritual.” You may be watching your life from a distance because fully engaging feels too costly. Or you may be withholding yourself to stay safe. This card asks you to return to your body and accept that observation is only the first step—participation is the next.
Key Questions
What am I refusing to feel while I “stay neutral”?
What becomes obvious if I stop defending my position?
Where am I confusing detachment with wisdom?
Activation / Practice
Write the facts of the situation in 5 sentences with no opinions, no blame, and no story.
Shadow Warning
If you hide behind observation, you never have to risk change.
Each deck comes with a guidebook which gives insights to the deeper meanings embedded in the imagery of each card. More than just keywords: there are key questions given like journal prompts to nudge the user further into contemplation.
In addition to the suggested themes, there are suggested layouts in the guidebook.
As with all decks, users are encouraged to use the guidebook as a springboard and trust their own intuition when forming a partnership with their deck as a tool.
